rabbis vs. saints

i have a friend who is not jewish but she has professed to me a desire to learn about judaisum... today she asked me about the rabbis that are in the talmud... the gemara in particular hillel and shamai...
but now she wants to understand the diffrence between the saints and the rabbis... i myself do not understand them at all... the rabbis were the leaders of the jewish people and they gave us ways to live by... i don't know about the saints... what do i do? how do i explain it to her?
i have already told her that i don't think its a good idea... there are too many things that would cause confusion for her... but she has insisted.. so now i am asking for help and advice....
thanks....

well, if she wants to know the difference between rabbis and saints, that's easy! Rabbis are never canonized by the Catholic Church

if by saint she means someone of great holiness, ask her what the various saints did that makes anyone think they're holy.

i did and she started to talk about miricles.. both during and after thier lifetime... now i knwo that in judaism we have something sort of like that, but the miricles she was talking about was roses blooming in winter and stuff like that... nothing that was concreate that directly helped someone... but to her it was a miricle...and i didn't want to say anything and insult her... but it just didn't seem that way to me... but then again it wasn't my miricle...
i guess its more of what do i say.... she wants to learn about the tannaim and amoraim and i cannot explain it to her in a respectful way...about why i cannot teach her all of it....

as someone suggested in another thread, recommend some books and if she's really interested, she'll read them. Being that's she not Jewish, talk about the Sheva Mitzvos is especially appropriate. You can even recommend some websites like asknoah.org
