Fartt the AR did not print zmiros in the siddur . . . he expected chassidim to sing nigunim.

Similarly maybe with niggunim, that for a farbrengen etc obviously you will get the right flavor with an old Chassidish niggun, but otherwise? Why not? It is a matter of taste.
[Obviously not all the junk roaming around out there classifies as a niggun at all - IMO - but that is another discussion...].
Maybe I didn't understand you. . .

I objected to the implication that other songs/niggunim from other "groups" are "not healthy".
Are you somehow disagreeing with me by bringing the vort of the AR? If yes, how?

By the way, did anyone mention Black hattitude yet? I really think that type of music is very off... I asked someone if it was jewish music and they said yes. It's hard to believe. I didn't really hear the whole cd so maybe I shouldn't judge. is the whole cd really bad or is it just one song?

and some music is not just not healthy - its damaging. and it kind of makes it worse that its called "jewish" because it misleads the person into saying its okay because its jewish.

I came into my bunkhouse one time and the kids were listening to one of these jewish jazz and they were dancing - the kind of dancing that this kind of music automatically provokes. I told them to turn it off and their like "but its Jewish!"

I obviously (and stated clearly) that I am not talking about some of the junk that passes today as "chassidic" and "Jewish" - I was referring to old Jewish songs of chassidishe (and other) groups outside Chabad. I see no reason why they would lack "basic nutrients" as someone claimed.
Anyway, this is my opinion - you don't have to accept it...

Let me rephrase that they don't have the extra vitamins that niggunim have.

Some music really cracks me up because it's very sad what words they take and put into the wrong tune. Like "yehei yehei yehei shloma raba yehei shloma raba raba min shimaya" (chevra). These words are what you say for kaddish and they make it into this like rocky happy song. What is wrong with people? Some songs just have like maybe five words in them and the words are sung over and over again with some beats everyone calls a tune. Sometimes I think cd's are broken, but it's really the singer starting to say a word over and over again as if he/she has a stutter. I understand that it's like cool and stuff but you know in a way it's weird and sometimes I just feel like making fun of these people. I could do beat box too. Everyone could do it! All you gotta do is make some funny noises with your mouth! :-D

"May HIS great NAME be blessed forever and to all eternity". Now what is SAD about those words??? The Kaddish is all about praise to G-D.

I was dropping a family member off at work and heard the SUV next to me playing Matisyahu and I couldn't help but cracking up... this is out in the middle of the Desert!

The words aren't sad... It just really clashes with the tune because it's usually said for someone who passes away. I don't know, I'm just giving an example.
Nissan, I heard that more non-jews have mattisyahu than jews.

are you out of your mind? yehei is part of kaddish sholeim which is recited by everyone who davens for the omud.

kaddish has nothing to do with dead people, it just happens that an extra kaddish was established for the people who died - and kaddish is recited in their zchus so they should have a easy entrance to gan eden.

besides, Yehey is a beautiful song[IMO], and the chevra aren't the only people who make a song out of those words... MBD also has a song on this and many more; it's a very popular verse for songs, kinda like some pesukim in tehilim
