Reorganize the threads

If I could suggest [for any Mod. who is (extremely) bored] to reorganize the threads into the sections where they belong (for example, the ones on Chasiduss into the Chabad Chasiduss section etc. [yes ,I know it is a new section but I do not only mean that section ,it is just an example])

you don't mean patience like a day or two, you mean patience like a week or two, a month or two and that's if were lucky! We try to be grateful and patient but sometimes it can get very hard!

If by a different thread you mean the "Comments on the site" thread, then no , there is a difference over there it is discussing the structure of the site and the different section of it, what I was referring to was single threads by themselves that are in the wrong places.

IOW I am not talking about restructuring anything, just moving threads from one place to another without taking away or adding sections.

However, I guess the same answer would apply anyway.

(p.s I did say "for any mod who is bored" which I know does not apply to “all” of them but only to some of them.... )

I did offer my help in restructuring the site, that was about a week ago, I'm still waiting to see if my help was noticed or necessary. LION, for now it might be good to put threads where they belong but if the site is restructured in a sensible way it will hopefully be easier for the threads to go where they belong ot begin with, so they odn't have to be relocated.

Exclamation Suggestions on reorganizing the board

Now that the new software seems to be running fine b"h, we were thinking of reorganizing the various sections (and sub-sections) of the board in the near future, if anyone has any suggestions, please post them here.

Re: Suggestions on reorganizing the board

This is what I got long ago from "iamachassid"

A new topic titled Family

For clarification call the topic Moshiach Controversy

Chassidus of Preceding Rabbeim

Poems, Jokes and Inspiration (What's a nice word for unaffiliated?)

Combine Jewish and Chabad (Websites-it might be unnecessary-and) Internet Presence

Perhaps get rid of Teshuras and Publications, and btw I still don't understand why it's under moderation

Retitle Lubavitch-the Rebbe so it doesn't sound like you're limiting Lubavitch to the Rebbe

World of Lubavitch is too general, either rename it or break it down

Seasonal Minhagim split into Jewish and Chassidic or make a section for the unlisted months/rest of the year

In Farbrengen combine Stories of Rabbeim and Chassidim

Lchaim! Other farbrengen discussions

Replace Other with Jewish Topics

Than you can make everything not strictly Lubavitch or Jewish Other or General and you won't need both

What is Discussion Starters and why is it not under Farbrengen?

Teenagers-what are their usual discussions and under what titles would you be able to break them up?

This is it for now, I hope it helps and I have faith we will see good changes! Keep up the great work!

Re: Suggestions on reorganizing the board

How about having a new section called Halachah Uminhag [as there is already in Tmimim plus] and have it include in it the various halacha and "Minhagim" sections (besides that the halacha section that is in Tmimim plus already includes [lubaivtcher] Minhagim...

Also someone suggested that there be in general less sub-forums and if you have to make more regular forums.

Can somone please define what exactly that is suppose to include...

there is more...but I'll add it later iy"h...

Re: Suggestions on reorganizing the board

As I am sure most of you have noticed, we are in middle of reorganizing the board, if you cannot find a thread try using the search button (you can also try thinking as to where it might have gone, for example something that used to be in the Halachah might just have gone to the new 'Halachah Uminhag' forum…).

Also again, if there are any comments or suggestions about the reorganization please post them here (if you wait until afterwards it might be too late!).

Perhaps make (at least part of) the womens section only open to ladies.

That's what I suggested to the mods. In other words, use the gender feature for something. Some of the womens posts are inappropriate.

Re: Suggestions on reorganizing the board

Here are some things that I suggest, I hope some of them can maybe be accomplished:
  • Polls created by mods that change frequently
  • Personal polls created by people in their profile or something
  • A registered "Fact Checker" that can jump in on conversations in the threads and state the real Halach KiDvaro

And if this can be done without ruining anymousity:
  • Just as you have title "Moderator" for moderators, maybe have a title "Rabbi" for identified Rabbi's (ID'd privately by Mods), and/or "Bochur" for bochurim.
Just my suggestions, use them as you please...

I hadn't noticed that there was a woman's section. I was going to suggest putting up a "real" woman's section, close it if you like to the women who are listed or whatever, and put some real subsections that would intrest women into it. For example:

*Raising Children (Advice on raising your little one's- it gets hectic these days and I'm sure everyone has a trick that works for them.)
*Recipie exchange thread.
*Shidduchim (Advice, etc.)
*What to Read(Not always what a man reads is what a woman reads and vice versa.)

Those are a few off the top of my head....

Sections are created upon need, if we see allot of threads on one subject we create a section for it.

Raising Children could be discussed in Education
Recipes here there is a thread http://www.chabadtalk.com/forum/show...ghlight=recipe
Shidduchim there is a section
There is also a section for books.

To create a section for just women was already discussed and it's impossible to verify each person.

I think regarding one's status, only Rabonim should be listed. Other details, like bochur/married, doctor/lawyer, have no practical relevance.

What I think is more important, is to allow much more idle time before logging off automatically, so you can finish your post (some attachments never even made it because it took too long to upload...). As a matter of fact, I don't see any reason for auto log off anyway; it's not like someone's going to... what?
