New Likutei Sichos

I noticed Vaad lehafotzas sichos have completed the new likuttei sichos which is divided by parshah rather then by traditional chelek, that is essentially the main difference. Do people find this more convinient, has anyone out there ditched their old ones to buy these new ones, what price range are they selling am interested to hear some feedback.

I find it a pain. It may be nice for home referance, but in yeshivah or for a person who travels alot it means he needs to take many more s'farim if he wants to learn a sicha every week (ie with the old set one need only take 5 volumes)

I ended up buying the new likutei sichos (parshiyos) and although convinient ( i am a married bal habos) there are several failings. They all stem from one basic problem. The people that put it together didnt put in any effort and/or didnt use sechel. for example the haaros have been copied directly from the old likkutei sichos so that when it refers to another page the page number is from the old likuttei sichos.

This leads me to a more general point. We lubavitchers have the most profound and powerful teachings at our fingertips. Our goal is Haafatzos hamaayonos. Yet most of the chassidic publications we produce are sub standard to put it mildly.(Heicehl Menachem chassidus mevueres excepted) We have the talent we have the money so whats going on out there. Even the gutnick chumash, perhaps the first reasonable attempt at marketing the Rebbes Sichos is shoddy and dosnt do justice to the Rebbes sichos. Perhaps the lubavitch publishing orginisations are too busy fighting and bickering (end up spending the money on legal fees etc.) to focus properly on their job. Whatever the reason we lose out and the public at large lose out.

Why do we have to wait for artscroll to put out the "Shottenstien Tanya" or the "Stone Likutei sichos" for chassidus to be presented in a dignified and professional format ????

Is this the same as the black-covered edition published by Kehos?

well the black ones do have the kehas stamp but are produced by vaad kehafatzas sichos. No idea of the politics Here (make it a point to avoid). But i assume theres one version of LS formatted in such manner. actually being sold extremely cheap these days, probably worth it for the price now.

By definition a set that needs another set to be usable (in the way it should be used) is not "improved".

It does have advantages that the other does not have.

Besides the one - all sichos of one parsha in one volume, which is a straight cut and paste job - what other "advantages" does it have?

  • it is a great help if you a rabbi of a congregation that needs to make a speach
  • it has the chumish of the parsha with the rashi's intergrated with the parsha (sort of like shnaim mikro)
  • it is a great help if you want to decide which sichos to learn with your chasidus chavrusoh

Likutei Sichos Parshios

Does anyone know where to get this online? Thanks
I thought Kehos publishes this but can't find it on their site.

If you are asking about how to view the series online, it probably has not been scanned. If the question is to buy it via the online store, there are three possibilities: a)it has not been listed yet b)it is not in stock c)it is there, and you simply didn't find it.

Yeah, that was my thought right after I signed off. Who's it published by, though? Toras Menachem? (Actually, that makes sense, since it's in Hebrew.)

1) It is not Hebrew - just rearranged the sichos in whatever language they were printed in originally. No translation or "work" whatsoever.
2) Probably the "Vaad" or OSL.
3) There is a thread already discussing the merits or demerits of that set - maybe this should be moved there.
