What is Eliyahu HaNavi's Connection to the Geulah?

Shalom:
Some questions I have, if anyone would like to answer them I would be appreciative.
1.) Does anybody know why it will be Eliyahu HaNavi who announces the arrival of Moshiach?
2.) Also, we have a Kos Shel Eliyahu on Pesach. I assume that is because Pesach is about Geulah and Eliyahu HaNavi will announce the Geulah. There must me more than just that connection. What is the more involved and deeper answer?
3.) Also, Why don't we do anything on the other 2 Regalim connected to Eliyahu H"N?

This is a timely question, and the more I research it -- the more fascinating it becomes.

As a start, here's a PDF about the roots of the minhag of , it's mind-blowing...
