Interpeting Isaiah chapter 9?

Yes, this isn't exactly Torah, but it's in the general proximity.

Okay, in the Bible I have (which is not the Hebrew Bible, unfortunately, so it's subject to mistranslation), it says something along the lines of:

Chapter 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of course, we know what that points to, and I'm sure that when the time comes for me to defend my choice to follow Judaism before my family and friends, this is going to come up. What is the response to this use of this verse?

Hi Bnai Noach,

I suggest you read the relevant segments in the "Jewish Response to Missionaries" handbook.

It's available for free download on the www.jewsforjudaism.com website.

Hope that helps,
