Signs of Galus vs Signs of Geulah

It occurred to me the other day, that while the signs of Moshiach in maseches sotah all talk about negative things, the Rebbe often pointed out to positive things as well as signs of Moshiach.

I wonder if the Rebbe might be implying that the time for the negative signs was in the past, and now is time for positive signs about what is in store for us in the future.

To take an example: In the Gemara it says that the destruction of the Galilee is a sign. Now while it was very desolate for thousands of years, it's definitely not desolate now.

On the other hand, today we witness many trends which are previews of Moshiach, and as time goes by the trends become stronger and stronger. It's amazing! There's less war, longer lives, more prosperity, less manual labor, more automation, more knowledge etc. etc.
