At the end of the day, the only thing that gives me any Chayas at all when I get "down" is Chassidus. Moreover, even when I am not "down" I need to start my morning with Chassidus to get the energy to genuinely invest myself in Niglah and in doing Mitzvoth. In this way, I see Chassidus as my "Shabbos." (Just as the weekdays gain their Chayus from Shabbos, as explained in the holy Zohar, so to...)

When I get 'down' I b'pashtus don't feel like learning chassidus, and then because i don't learn it I get more upset, and mad at myself for not being up to par...it basically gets to be a vicious cycle with me ending it by doing one of two things: deciding that even though I'm not going to do it with any chayus, I'll still learn, or calling someone, or going to a farby, to get me more inspired...

I employed the quotes to indicate non-literal usage of the term "hear." Meaning, by "hear" I refer not to the perception of vibrations (i.e. sound), but to comprehension.

I would agree that being connected to the King is the primary source of Chayus for all people of the generation. As the Rebbe explains in the sicha of Beis Nisan 5748, the King is the heart of the Nation.

Our vitality derives from the King

By hashgacha pratis, I came across this quote from the Rebbe, which lechora supports what I said before.
Quote:
{The opposition from the world to the redemption, is merely an external appearance alone. In truth, the entire world was only created for the sake of the revelation of G-d's sovereignty (which will become manifest through the King Messiah(who will bring the entire world under G-d's sovereignty through the study of Torah and the fulfillment of Mitvoth) and when this Kingdom of G-d becomes revealed, all apparent opposition will be nullified.}

..And in greater depth: since the vitality and the existence of all of the people of the country are dependant upon the King[98], it is understood, that in the truth of the matter it is not shayach (appropriate) that there should be an opponent to the King, for behold the entire existence of the "opponent" (as it appears outwardly) is dependant upon the King. And similarly with regards to the redemption - that the inyan (matter) of Malchus (Sovereignty) (the King Moshiach) emphasizes how in the truth of the matter the world (exile) is not able to be an opponent to the redemption, since the entire existence of the world is dependant upon the matter of the redemption (Malchus / Sovereignty), as is brought in the Talmud[15] "the world was only created... for Moshiach"[99], and therefore, the "opposition" of the world (exile) to the redemption is merely an exteral matter alone, and its nullification is through the revelation of the true inyan / matter of the world - Malchus / Sovereignty[100].

[98] See Likutei Sichos 8:25. And there it was explained.

[15] Sanhedrin 98b.
[99] And also according to the other opinions (there) - "David", the Malchus Beis David ("the malchus / sovereignty was given to him forever, to him and his descendants" - Chiddushei Aggadoth Maharsha there), that the King Moshiach is from his descendants: and for "Moshe" - "the first redeemer is the last redeemer" (see Likutei Sichos 11:8 and onwards and there it is explained.)
[100] And to note, that the elicitation and revelation of the Alufo Shel Olam (as through this we make from the "golah" (exile) "geulah" (redemption), as above section 7) is the inyan / matter of "Echad", "making Him King above and below and in the four directions" (Berachos 13b), "Malchus is his inyan" (Rambam Hilchos Shofar 3:9.)

When I was a teenager I always wished they had a sight like this. You are all very blessed to have Chabad Talk and it should give you Chayus, knowing you can say what is in your heart and on your mind.

Majorthinker, you need to look inside yourself, and ask yourself what is your passion? Do something that makes you happy. If you always dreamt of doing something, do it (obviously within reason). We all need something that drives us, that gives us a reason to go on.
Some of us go on Shlichus. Some of us learn Torah. Some of us paint. Etc. Find something that makes you feel alive and tackle it.

You are ultimately the only one who can truly wake yourself up. Hatzlocho!

You want chayus? Go to Chabad.org and listen to Dershowitz talk, with a chayus about the Rebbe and Lubavitch. (Type Dershowitz in the search.)

Talk to somone who personally witnessed the miraculous work of Lubavitch in Russia and around the world.

Read how the Rebbe cared, and picked up lives, with cleverness and kindness.

The other person's chayus (in what they personally witnessed) is sure to give you chayus. And if not, get your keli into better shape, and it will penetrate.

I once heard something very interesting from a teacher of mine: the healthiest and most rewarding thing a person can do for themselves is to MAKE themselves inspired. When you are lacking chayus, THAT is when you should get up, get dressed, go on mivtzoyim, give over a sicha, SOMETHING to remind yourself who you are and what your shlichus is...

Just my two cents!
