Etzem hanefesh in Kelipah R"l

In the attached excerpt from a maamar (it's also in d"h lo sihiyeh meshakeiloh, IIRC), from here, the Rebbe talks about the etzem hanefesh (and not necessarily the giluyim) being in imkei hakelipos. What does this mean--isn't the etzem hanefesh completely beyond Kelipah? E.g., what about Hayom Yom 11 Shevat: He may be missing in on area or another, but the Modeh Ani [i.e., the essence of the Neshamah] of a Jew remains whole.

That the etzem hanefesh is and also is n is not a stira. Think of the "Tzion b'mishpat tipadeh" maamarim that explain the difference between Tzion and Yoshveha. Between being in golus mamash (affected by golus) and being in the place of golus (but not mamash affected by it).
