Gashmiyus refers to stam klipas nogah; chumriyus means something coarse, which could still be klipas nogah, but a very low level, i.e., indulgence in permitted pleasures. Of course, forbidden pleasures would be considered chumriyus.

In Kuntres Uma'ayan it's explained that "gufa" in "Tukfa degufa, chulsha denishmasa" refers to chumriyos. And in Tanya the Alter Rebbe says that the body of a Jew is "nidmeh bechumriyuso le'gufei umos ha'olam," and the Rebbe infers that davka the chumriyus is similar, but not the gashmiyus.

Do you mean this:

The adverb "ie" has 1 sense.

1) i.e., ie, id est, that is -- (that is to say; in other words)

I don't retract the answer that I write above, but I am after a source that spells out the difference between gashmiyus and chumriyus. Todah mei'roish.
