Rebbe's view on Torah codes

I know that much of the Torah codes (Rips, et. al) work and controversy happened after gimmel tamuz, but did the Rebbe every speak about Torah codes and their legitimacy? Or is there anything in his writings that we can use to infer his view?

[Also, it might be interesting to search for Chabad specific terms in the Torah and see what results that yields...]

2 years ago in 770 there was a "Torah codes presentation" on Motzei Shabbos Beshalach during the melaveh malkah honoring the guests that came from France.

If I recall in "Chabad Magazine" or the english Kfar Chabad they had a article saying why Lubavitch isint caught up in this.

I remember a mugah'dike sicha of the Rebbe, in which he offers a novel gematria. But first, the Rebbe prefaces that in general, we do not make up our own gematrias (and if i recall correctly, quotes a Ramban to that effect), but then says if the new gematria contributes to Yiras Shamayim, then it's ok.

So the question is then do the Torah Codes add in Yiras Shamyim? Are they helpful in being mekarev Yidden?

On the other hand, the Torah Codes are not exactly Gematiot, are they? Are they a new sort of exegesis? If so, then the whole enterprise may not be kosher, and what the Rebbe said concerning a new gamatria may be inapplicable.
