Jewish idolaters al pi Rambam

Rambam seems to be saying (Seifer Madah, Hilchos Avodah Kochavim) that Jewish idolaters are "not Jews in all aspects". He later adds that minim (those who break Halacha l'hachiz, as he defines them) are in the same category.

The meforshim say that if such a person makes a teshuva, he will die, so the fact that he has not yet mean he hasn't done teshuva yet. And Ra'avad says something like: you can't destroy his property if he has Jewish kids, but if he doesn't, you can.

So, does this mean that al pi Rambam, we could take ribis from such a person?

What about the status of some Yidden who decided to stop keeping Halacha at some point in the 19th/20th century? Some of them were talmidei chochamim who went to yeshivos, etc. Not everyone was a simple peasant who decided to become a communist.

Also, al pi Chassidus: what happens to one's nefesh Elokis when he becomes an idolater?
