Allowing one's tefillin straps to hang down the floor

Some people are under the impression that it's some sort of chumra not to allow one's tefillin straps to hang down on to uthe floor when laying them and removing them. To me such hanging is repulsive, but I'm not a Rov. Does anyone know what the din is here?

IN SA does not say anywhere that is an Isur (IIRC)
I think that it is a common sense reaction (to treat with respect)
Manny ppl hold that floor of 770 is also makom kadosh, some ppl extend this to other BM or Shuls

What nareshkeit - do they also place seforim on the "makom kodosh" floor?
Legufo shel inyon - I would think it is a kal vechomor from Tzitzis, see SA AR 21:5.
If you were a Tzanzer you would know that there was a Ropshitz/Tzanzer/Shinava mesora to have it drag a drop on the floor a bit when removing them - a kabbalistic minhog להבאים לסוד השם, see דרכי חיים ושלום in the השמטות.
Pashtus of halocho is not to do that, וכנ"ל, though poskim say if it happened, no kaporo is needed.

I heard from Reb Mendel Futerfas that when the Rebbe Rashab saw retzuos on the floor, he shouted (Tefillin are dragged on the ground)

I was just davening in a MO shull in Teaneck, NJ, and when I was putting on Rabbeinu Tam, some guy came to me and said: "We were just learning not to drag retzuos on the floor." I wasn't able to ask him at the time where he was learning it. But it sounded like he had a source. But if it doesn't say that in Mishna Brura or SA, where was the source from? Could he have said this if he was relying on a kal vechomor from hilchos tzitzis? (I am not disputing, just wondering.)
