3 buttons! The top one I can understand. The second one is already a stretch, but the third one!? Buy some larger shirts!

Maybe you'd be even more comfortable wearing a tee-shirt--or maybe no shirt at all?
Since when does personal comfort override proper decorum!?

Are you talking about the third button from the top of a button-down shirt?

Are you nuts? Or was this question a purim spoof?

I'm assuming you mean the third button of a 3 button suit jacket. (are they still in?) I think the style was to button 2 and leave 3, so yes it would be a problem - as well as the bubble in the hat is a problem.

What exactly is the problem with having a bubble in your hat? A hat is a hat, why can't you try to dress stylish when it is in the boundary's of halacha and doesn't look trashy at all? It's not like jeans

Do you mean only the third button, or till the third button?

It's believed that the Rebbe's third button was kept open. Don't bother asking me for a source. Take it as you may.

Avrumi: The bubblehat discussion is in a thread of its own. Please stick to the topic at hand.

There is no need to stay exclusively on the topic of "the third button". The issue is a bochurs dress code, and I'd like to know why many people are so opposed to a bubble in a hat. When we focus on the chitzonius too much (like the third button or a bubble) we forget the ikkur.

Whatever... The Rebbe wore a "bubblehat" in the early years. But anyways, This topic is stale.

third button- wear an undershirt underneath, unless you're lucky enough to have a beard that covers all the way down to there.
bubblehat- i took that to mean one who wears a litvish hat- and truthfully, who cares?
