How do you define "really want Moshiach"? Sorry, but I'm still working on that one, and not hard enough. Perhaps you should ask more in theory: what are reasons that could bring one to want Moshiach.

That said, if I want Moshiach sincerely for any reason (as opposed to intellectualy recognising that I should desire Moshiach for whatever reason, which I could do just fine) it's so that Jews won't have to suffer all the tzoros of golus, r''l, begashmiyus and beruchniyus, ve'ein yom she'ein merubo ... mishel chaveiroi.

Thanks for your answer. I edited it from "One reason I really want Moshiach so much is _______." to the version which is now in post #1.

I want moshiach so that I can see G-dlyness - Veniglah Kvod Hashem. So that the stone in the wall may shout!... "For then I (G-d) will turn to nations that they may all call in G-d's name and to serve him with one shoulder." It will Elokus Bepshitus and Metzius Behischadshus! it will be revealed how the Yesh Haamity and Yesh Hanivrah are 1. I want to hear Torah Chadasha from the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach Shlit"a. I want to see the Dvar Hashem that's Mehavve everything. I want the dismantlement of the kfira state and an end to evil.
AND, I also want it for noahide's reasons too.

Wow, you have a real yearning to see the chayos Eloki? You must be a real baal avoido (seriously, not being sarcastic). May you inspire many to feel likewise, va'ani ha'koton besoichom.

I really want Moshiach, because then we're going to go to the Bais Hamikdash, and we'll finally see the Rebbe again.......oy, it hurts.

What is the Chabad definition of a baal avoido? How does one work on this midah?

I think he means someone who has complete Bittul and does Iskafya. Is amongst the Neelavim ve'eynon olbin, and has Mesiras nefesh for any Hora'ah of the Torah especialy for Ahavs Yisroel.

The classic definition of a Baal Avodah is one supplied by the Frierdike Rebbe as someone who see in everything they learn in Chasidus the avodah in it, how it should change and does change them - as opposed to a Maskil, someone in whose learning they might at times only see the wisdom and not the practical avodah. Both of these had to be both baalei avodah in general (changing ones middos) and baalei haskalah (learned in Chasidus), for those are criteria for being a Chossid.

Actually, as the Alter Rebbe tells us in Tanya Perek 41, Avodah begins with Yirah. Bittul may be a totzaah of Yirah, Veyesh LeAyen.

Bittul, I was joking....knew you would show up if I mentioned your name....not disagreeing with the A"R....although to be either a maskil or an oveid, you need bittul first, which is an outcome of yirat haromemut.

Do you have a source for this? I think the same, but didn't have the time to look it up.

How are you connected to the Rebbe so that you want what the Rebbe does?

How to "connect" to the Rebbe:
1. Hiskashrus to the Rebbe - Learning Sichos, Ma'amarim, and fulfilling the Rebbe's Hoiro'ois [Igrot Kodesh, Taf Kuf Samach Alef].

2. Bittul to the Rebbe - Bateil Retzoincho Mipney Retzoinoi.

3. Eved Melech Melech - Like an Eved Ne'emon, you want what the Rebbe does.

Derech agav, you are already connected to the Rebbe through your Neshomo's connection to the Neshomo Klolis; the avoido is just to 'reveal' this already-existing connection by doing the above to entrain.

I want moshiach so that we can all be together.

I certainly agree with the more avodahdik posts, but the most compelling reason anyone has ever said to me happened when:

We were in a chabad house, several old friends davening Kabbolas Shabbos. One person mused that several of the children were out of town in Yeshiva so he could not say hi before he left town. Another noted that he had several relatives that he had not seen in quite some time. And of course, the conversation drifted to other old friends that nobody had spoken to in a while. Then someone said "You know, I really hope Moshiach comes soon so that we can all be together."

And its really true, I want Moshiach so I can see all my friends that are spread around the world. I want Moshiach so I can see my family that live in five continents. I want moshiach so my wife and I can see our grandparents again (even the ones that are no longer alive) and I want moshiach so I can finally have the opportunity to shake the Rebbe's hand.

Are any of these links available in English? I don't understand much Hebrew yet.
