tying knots on shabbos

i recently learnt in a shiur on beverlyhillschabad.com that a knot is considered a knot if it is double.

this lead me to 2 questions.

1) when i tie my shoe laces, should i only tie it in a single knot and not a double bow knot??

2) the string around the tzitzis, when i take it off to go to the mikvah, should i have only tied it in a single knot not a double bow knot??

these questions are essentially the same, but different aspects.

thanks
