Beer at a Sholom Zachor

Is there a makor that anyone can cite (other than minhag yisroel and that it tastes good) for having beer by a shalom zachor? Is one yotzeh with mashkeh?

Doesn't sound like much of a makor to me

Maybe because "beer" in Aramaic means a son (as in "dein garma de'asirah bir" said by r' yochanan near the begining of brochos)?

Does "beer" () in that Gemmoroh mean "son" (see Rashi there)? "Bar" () is son...

I couldn't check up the gemoro originally b/c it was Fri. (and daf yomi's not up to there yet) but I checked it now (5B), the gemoro does say bir (which rashi says is like bar), so bir itself also means a son (and we couldn't have a bar by a SZ b/c it wouldn't be chassidish) . .

The arbis are for avelus b/c the baby was forced to come into this world.
the beer . . . I always figured if you're going to make a party for a zachor you might as well serve food that men like

makor for beer

I once heard that the reason for having beer at a shalom zachar is that in the old times alcoholic berverages were expensive, and the only thing afforable for them was beer, since beer is cheap.
